Frontier Crossing: The Most Ambitious Immersive Resort Concept Yet

The flagship of the IHG destination portfolio takes shape — a fully immersive western world driven by environmental storytelling, distributed show control, and minimal live performers.

By IHG Communications

Frontier Crossing Resort, the flagship destination concept in the Immersive Holdings Group portfolio, is moving into its next phase of development.

The premise of Frontier Crossing is the most ambitious in our destination roadmap: a fully immersive western world that reacts, lives, and tells its own story around the clock — driven by technology rather than by an army of live performers.

The technology-first immersion model

Conventional immersive entertainment leans heavily on live actors to carry the experience. The result is inconsistent quality, prohibitive cost at scale, and a model that breaks the moment a performer steps offstage.

Frontier Crossing inverts that model. Environmental audio carries unseen conversations through saloon windows. Dynamic lighting changes the time of day before guests check their watches. Interactive story systems trigger moments of narrative when guests are in the right place at the right time. Distributed show control via IMMERSE™ and SYNKRON™ orchestrates the entire system as a single coherent world.

Live performers are deployed surgically — for the genuine human moments where presence is irreplaceable. The world keeps living between those moments.

The Frontier Crossing brand

Frontier Crossing is the first IHG destination to publicly establish its own property-level brand palette: Frontier Navy (#1B2A4A), Canyon Gold (#C8A84B), Rust Red (#A0522D), and Sand (#E8DCC8). These property colors are distinct from the IHG corporate palette, even though they share two of its anchors.

The decision to publish the palette at this stage is deliberate. The destination brand needs to start communicating on its own terms — visual, tonal, distinct — well before the property opens.

What this signals

Frontier Crossing is the property where the integrated IHG model is going to be tested at its highest ambition. The platforms we built. The IP we wrote. The land our development division acquired. The operations our experiences division will run. All of it deployed against a concept that the industry has historically considered too hard to build.

We’ll be publishing more on Frontier Crossing’s development over the coming months.
